Missions and Service

As the lifeless body is dead, so faith without actions is dead. (James 2:26)

Healthy inner spiritual growth is expressed through words and actions that reflect the love, compassion, forgiveness, and striving for justice that characterized Jesus Christ's interactions with others. Without such good works, one may claim faith in Christ but fail to live out God's calling to being God's love to others as Christ did. Especially in the Methodist tradition, we believe that faith has outward expression ranging from treating each other with dignity, respect, compassion, and grace to giving our lives to the service of the church.

Mission work refers to the works of the church that address need in the world, whether it be a local food pantry or children's reading program or building schools and hospitals in impoverished communities overseas. Service is simply everything else we do that makes God's love through Jesus Christ real in the lives of others.

Come! Join us in mission and service to the world!

Women of Faith

Although mission and service are works of the church and each person in it, most of the mission work done by Tecumseh UMC is organized by our Women of Faith. This group of women meets on the 4th Monday of every month for prayer, devotions, mission coordination, and fellowship. All women are welcome to take part. For more information, contact the church office.

Tecumseh Service Club Support

Tecumseh UMC supports the work of the Tecumseh Service Club, an organization that helps people in need in the north-east Lenawee County area. While we provide financial support through donations, we also collect items the Service Club gives away that people cannot obtain with government assistance alone. The list is below. Although specific categories of items are listed for each month, the Service Club can use any and all categories year-round.

We bring the month's highlight items into worship and bless them on the 2nd Sunday of each month.
