The Fresh Food Inititiative of the Food Bank of South Central Michigan distributes fresh produce to families in need in Lenawee County. Distributions take place Saturday afternoons at varying locations each week. Tecumseh UMC hosts a distribution each third Saturday of the month and takes place at the Pavilion west of the church building.

Volunteers from all of the participating organizations staff each distribution and perform the following tasks:

Tecumseh UMC needs to provide 5 volunteers for each distribution. Because distributions heppen weekly, there is opportunity for many to participate.

About the Food Bank of South Central Michigan

This food bank works with other organizations in Lenawee County that host meals and distribute food by taking their leftovers. Food is purchased using grant money and, when possible, food is purchased from local farmers. In 2017, 500,000 pounds of food was distributed in Lenawee County.
